We finished two songs. Productive evening.

After Zach got off work tonight we got together to do some pre-production work on our next record. At 9pm. We burn the midnight oil to do this.

During our work tonight at East Side Sound (where Eric is an engineer) Zach took some photos on his new Droid phone. After making fun of him for not having an iPhone like the rest of us, we're now posting his photos on the home page (above). Via my iPhone.

We tracked our current eight-song set live minus vocals. When those vocals are overdubbed we'll post a couple of the tracks here. Stay posted.

Me You Is Them just finished. Stellar set. One of my favorite Brooklyn bands, and they were even before we shared a drummer with them. The great light show at Coco 66 did them well, as I tried to show with my iPhone pictures above.

And now... Back to the van, to drive through the snow to our practice space on Hope St. in Williamsburg.

We just finished our set, and so many lovely people braved the blizzard, which is getting worse as I type. In attendance were many close friends and favorite musicians (Adam's Castle folks, Monuments folks and many others) and city councilman Stephen Levin (pictured above). Now we're waiting for Me You Us Them to begin their set.

Good Omens are currently playing their set to an impressive audience, given the blizzard everyone had to endure to get here.

It's downright nasty.

If you live in the New York area, it'll be worth braving the slushy snowies to come get out tonight.  We haven't played in four months and there are currently no shows booked in the future, so as far as we know this is it.  And it's free.

12am - Me You Us Them

And if you don't live in the New York area or can't make it for some reason, just check back to our website throughout the night.  I'll be posting updates and pictures from the show throughout the night so you know what you're missing.  We might even post some audio from the show at a later date, but we're not promising anything.

So it's free, it's a first time show with Zach, and what songs on the set aren't new are reworked. So pretty much everything we're doing on Thursday has never been heard before.

And the New Year brings lots of news for Oceanographer.  Like:  We just launched a new website.  The home page is a journal format, which means anyone can post a comment on our site.  This is to encourage everyone to participate in Oceanographer.  We want you to feel like you're a part of what's going on.

There's also several new photos up, one series of which is us in the practice space.  Which is where we've been for the last several months.  We haven't played out live in a long time, but we have been busy working on new material for a third record

And two of the songs we've been working on are on every page of the new site in a player format that works even on an iPhone.  It's on the right side navigation bar

Speaking of records, our first two records can now be streamed in entirety for free from the store page.  You're welcome.

And speaking of playing out, we just booked our first show in what feels like ages:  We're playing a free show Thursday, February 25th at Coco 66 in Greenpoint (Brooklyn, NY) with Me You Us Them and Good Omens.  We'll be playing all new and unreleased songs.
